For our 2014 Advent series we wanted to share how God cares deeply about our hearts and not simply getting people into heaven. To help with this, we sought to bring the grandeur of Christmas- the far-away, long ago, distant story - to each person for them to consider for themselves. The gospel is true, and the incarnation matters, not only to "people", but specifically to me. As we bring this story from long ago and far away to our lives here and now, we’ll find the hope we have longed for in saying “Unto me the Savior is born.”

We commissioned a custom star that served as the prominent piece in our Advent series. Amy Jones and I had the star as the focal design piece of the "Unto Me" series and this star hung in the center of our sanctuary, over the congregation, to help people grasp that the birth of Christ is for us. Since 2014 the star hangs outside each Advent for the city to enjoy.
